Last Updated: 15 April 2026 by Sanjay Subramaniam

## Prerequisites

Before setting up the connector, ensure you have:

- A Backup Radar account with Administrator access
- API access enabled in Backup Radar
- Access to Paratira with permissions to add connectors

## Technical Audience

Experienced IT administrators or service desk managers responsible for managing Backup Radar accounts and API integrations, with administrator access to Backup Radar and Paratira.

## Granting Access to Backup Radar

Backup Radar uses API keys for authentication. You will generate an API key from Backup Radar and enter it in Paratira to establish the connection.

### Step 1: Access the Connector Setup in Paratira

1. Log in to your Paratira account
2. Navigate to **Settings** in the left menu
3. Expand the menu and select **Connectors**
4. Click the **Add a new connector** button

### Step 2: Choose the Backup Radar Connector

1. In the "Add new connector" wizard, go to the **By technology** tab
2. Locate and click on the **Backup Radar** tile
3. Choose either One to One or One to Many depending on your setup
4. Click **Next** to proceed

### Step 3: Generate the API Key in Backup Radar

1. Log in to your Backup Radar account as an Administrator

3. Click **Generate New API Key**
4. Copy the generated API key securely

### Step 4: Enter API Key and Details in Paratira

- Enter a name for the connector, e.g. **Backup Radar Connector**
- Paste the Backup Radar API key into the **API Key** field
- Select the customer(s) to associate with this connector
- Click **Add**

### Step 5: Test Connection

1. After adding details, click **Test Connection**
2. Paratira will validate API access and permissions
3. This may take a few minutes to complete
4. Once successful, click **Next** to continue

### Step 6: Assigning Customers

2. Click **Add New Mapping**
3. In this step we will associate the Company Name from Backup Radar with the Customer in Paratira
4. **Important:** Ensure that all jobs in Backup Radar for each customer are using a unique identifier for the Company Name. For example, if CustomerA has 10 backup jobs ensure that the Company Name entered in Backup Radar is the same for all of the jobs.
5. Enter the **Company Name** in the Enter Connector Tenant ID input box and then select the **Customer in Paratira (DFP)** from the drop-down menu to associate the customer between the systems.

Solution: Ensure the API key has sufficient permissions and your Backup Radar account has Administrator role

**Post-Connection Problems**

**Error**: "No data retrieved"
Solution: Confirm that backups and devices exist in Backup Radar and API access is enabled

**Error**: "Partial data available"
Solution: Some data may require Backup Radar account feature upgrades

## Best Practices
